Marissa Mayer's Potentially Revolutionary Paternity Leave Policy:

Yahoo is now giving new dads eight weeks of paid leave, which could transform the way families think about division of labor.

We all hated on Marissa Mayer for 5-days-straight when she cut telecommuting at Yahoo.

But this week, she doubled paid maternity leave (to 16 weeks) AND added 8 weeks of paid paternity leave for new fathers, and I didn’t hear anything about it until two days after it happened.

The NY Times wrote another article about “discovering” hipster Brooklyn. My favorite part were the corrections at the end:

An earlier version of this article referred incorrectly to the products sold at By Brooklyn. The store does not sell dandelion and burdock soda, lovage soda syrup, and Early Bird granola “gathered in Brooklyn.”

An earlier version also referred incorrectly to the thoroughfare that contains the thrift shop Vice Versa. It is Bedford Avenue, not Bedford Street, or Bedfoprd Avenue, as stated in an earlier correction.

You can call toll free 1-855-FOR-1993 from any Manhattan pay-phone to get historical info from the block from 20 years ago. It’s part of the New Museum’s new 1993 exhibit, which is awesomely named after a Sonic Youth record. I just called from my block. Pretty cool apart from the urine smells.
